This year 24 countries are competing in “EURO2016”, the European soccer competition. All matches are being held in France.
Students in Years 34 and 56 have been looking at the countries
competing in EURO2016 and are excited to be tracking
the matches.
Students in Years 56 have enjoyed learning about the history of
pizza this term and making their own “Pizza Margherita”.
Students in Years 56B and 56T made pizza last week.
Students in Years 56C and 56M will be making pizza next week.
This year’s Giro d’Italia is beginning in the Netherlands Friday 6 May 2016 and concludes on Monday 29 May.
SBS will be showing daily highlights of il Giro.
This week in Italian class, students from Years 56C, 56M, 56P and 56S enjoyed making their own bruschetta.
Next week students from Year 45B will make bruschetta.
On Sunday 25th October, Piazza Italia will come alive with the
Italian Festa. Hosted by James Liotta who played Pippo in our
Italian Day incursion “Mission Gnocchi”.
This year the festival will run from 11 o’clock in the morning until
8 o’clock in the evening.
There will be free entertainment for the whole family including:
sporting activities, cooking demonstrations, comedy acts,
music and a Vespa display to name just a few.
Look out for Johnny di Francesco who took out
the world pizza title for his Margherita pizza
last year beating 600 contestants from 35
different countries.
Next term, students in Years 3 and 4 will be making “un frullato” a fruit smoothie.
Students will be able to choose their ingredients from:
bananas
raspberries
strawberries and
blueberries
The students had a great time on Italian Day.
The activities commenced on the basketball court with the parade followed by the staff waiters’ race team bianco vs team rosso. Then students moved to the hall for the incursion Mission Gnocchi:
After the incursion, students enjoyed a delicious lemon and chocolate gelato.
Thank-you to all the mums who helped distribute just under 400 gelati!
